I want to make sure I don’t install anything I don’t need. So I plan on using all the drivers from the install disc Gigabyte 780G except for the ATI drivers.
Then MyMovies, Arcsoft, and anydvd.
I am not positive but I want to make sure that I don’t need the TV pack in order to get my Haup tuner and HDHomerun tuner working together. Is that correct. I’ve tried steps mentioned here before but it seemed to always ask which one to install and never gave me an option for the second.
The HDHomerun is used for OTA not QAM. It is gonna be a redbull breakfast tomorrow.
I might as well track my steps here.
For time reasons I am doing a clean install \no reformat which will move all my files to a windows.old. Otherwise I’d be up a couple hours just waiting on files to copy.
1. Installed OS
2. Did the express install of the Gigabyte Drivers
3. Disable UAC
4. Enable Remote Desktop
5. Delete Old windows installation
6. Rename workgroup
7. Install Adobe Flash Player
8. Enable Media user to auto login via netplwiz
9. Install latest ATI Video driver (8.12)
10. Install ATI Southbridge driver (8.12)
11. Install AnyDVD, CloneDVD and Virtual CloneDrive
12. Install Arcsoft Player
13. Install MyMovies
14. Do a full system backup
15. Install Haup drivers version 3.2
16. Install HDHR software Version 2001213
17. I followed the instructions from ntwp13 in an old thread and everything is working fine.
18. Turned automatic updates on.
19. Oc’d the iGPU to 550. I’ll go higher once I hear the system in the LC17 I’ll be getting for Christmas, if it stays quiet I’ll bump up the clock.
20. What a PITA the automatic updates are. I don’t think Vista likes them not being on from the beginning. I think the updates locked up around 3 times after getting a dozen or so patches installed. But these are complete.
21. Set the system to performance in the Computer properties dialog. The only thing I turned on was the option to smooth screen fonts.
22. Installed the TV pack and its hotfix. I got tired of having to either select the HDTV category or paging down to where the channels were. Now CBS on channel 4 sits right next to CBS 4.1, 4.2.. And I could swear the analog cable looks a tad better. Was there a codec update in that pack?
23. Installed CCProxy. Seeing as this machine is always on I figured this was the machine to put it on. I used to to go anywhere while I am at work.Notes\concerns
I’d like to install a VMC netlflix viewer if there is one that currently works correctlyI am debating whether or not to build a WHS box for system backups across the wire.
What version of realtek drivers can I install without losing my Realtek control panel.
Is there an option to do incremental backups along with my full backup. The other option in the backup software seems to only backup documents. ie pictures, music.. I’d rather keep them on a separate drive to conserve space on the backup and maintain a bacup of them manually.
