issue with Ceton Network tuning

    1st time posting here, hopefully this is in the right spot, sorry if it’s not.

    I posted about this over in the original network tuning thread @ TGB…oh i mean Windows Expert Community or whatever, but figured I’d post here because i’ve gotten so much useful info out htpcs here!!

    my main HTPC is in the living room and has the Ceton card in it.  It’s a Win7 Ultimate x64 machine with 3 of the 4 tuners assigned to it.  i have a client PC in the bedroom running Win7 Prof. x86 with the 4th tuner shared via the network using Ceton’s network wizard.  Everything works great/as expected, until the host PC is either put to sleep, or rebooted.  If either one of those things takes place, after the host PC comes back up completely, the client PC no longer sees/has access to the 4th tuner.  I have to run the wizard all over again on the PC in bedroom in order for the tuner to work.

    I suppose I could leave the host PC on 24/7, it’s an i3 2300t build so it probably sips less power then the average light bulb, but reboots is another problem.  has anyone seen or heard about this issue?  any suggestions?

      Perhaps there is some trouble due to DHCP reassigning the IP address. As an experiment, you could try setting the IP address of the InfiniTV via the web configuration utility to a valid static IP address on your network. Make sure the IP is not in the pool of addresses your DHCP server assigns.

        yea i thought about that.  after running the tuning wizard on the host PC it assigned an address with the last octet being .113 (which is within the .100-.150 range my router hands out), but I have never seen that .113 change.

        It’s a place to start, so i’ll try assigning something like .151 when i get home.

          Might also help to toggle ‘Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power’ off under your device manager for your network card.

            First troubleshooting step is to ensure you have the latest network card drivers available from your manufacturer (not Windows Update).

              definitely have the latest everything (not Windows update) as the PC was just built.  i am going to look into the IP and power settings for the network card.  I will also check the sleep settings in the BIOS.  Am i correct in assuming S3?

                Not quite sure what you mean “in assuming S3”. You can always check your BIOS settings to verify that S3 is indeed the standby state when the OS sleeps.

                  after looking at the BIOS my sleep states are sx S4 and S5.  my mistake
