So, for Christmas last year my wife bought me a LG Blu-Ray drive for my media PC. Up until mid December of this year the drive has performed admirably.
Recently though the drive is very selective about playing Blu-Ray movies. When a BR disc is inserted if it deems unacceptable it honks after very lightly spinning up the disc.
If I place the disc in upside down and try it does the same thing. Replacing the disc right side up after the incorrect insertion usually fixes the problem. Unfortunately it has began getting worse, requiring additional insertions to finally get the drive to read the disc correctly.
DVD’s and HD-DVD’s have no problems at all. They work any time and every time.
I mean really why does this happen to me…
Any ideas as to what could be the problem.
– I had the problem with Vista x32. I upgraded to Win 7HP x64 and the problem continued.
– The BR movie used in the problem has been with every movie and no particular one.
– All the latest firmware updates have been applied.
– BR software is TMT 2.xxx
