I’ve noticed that during Live TV playback in VMC that it will slowly fall behind. I’m not talking about the standard caching that all PVR’s do, what I mean is that if I watch a show for say an hour or so without doing any time shifting I will end up maybe 20-30 seconds behind “Live TV” and I can fast-forward back to “Live”.
I notice this because I like to listen to the Radio broadcast of Bears games rather than the generally awful Fox blow-holes. After the standard 7 second radio delay and the PVR caching the two end up close enough to watch without being annoying, but after a while I notice that the radio is getting ahead. In fact, this past weekend I left the room for a while (that game was not worth watching) and when I returned the radio was one whole play ahead of the TV.
It happens on both analog and HD channels, but the problem may be more dramatic on HD channels.
It is not really a problem, and I sometimes get a few free commercial skips out of it, but I was wondering if this is normal.
