Over the past several years I have made an observation in movies & TV shows that is almost on the brink of driving me nuts, and I am wondering if any one else has made the same observation.  Does any one else notice while watching a movie or TV, if there is a computer in the scene, whether the computer is just a meaningless prop or if the computer is playing some type of role in the scene (where it’s being used by the actor) that the computer is a Mac?  When iMacs were popular you’d see them many times in say a teenager’s bedroom in a movie, or where 2 people were messaging they’d be on Macs.  If you see people in an executive boardroom and there’s a laptop on the table, it’s a Mac.  I would say 95% of the movies that I see where a computer is in it they use a Mac.  Only 2 movies that I recall where people were using a computer that wasn’t a Mac was in Live Free or Die Hard and a guy had an Alienware desktop, and in the movie Stay Alive where they had an Alienware laptop.  I find it strange because if you were to relate the movies to real life you’d think Macs are more dominant in people’s homes than PCs, but it’s just the opposite.  I’ve never seen an HP or a Toshiba or even a Dell being used.  Is Apple just paying to get some subliminal advertising?  Or do you think it’s because Mac’s are usually more visually “outstanding”?  Or is it because they’re using Macs on the set so they’re just easy to throw ’em in as a prop?  I know this is totally meaningless, but I couldn’t hold out any longer in exposing this conspiracy!  Hey, what else am I supposed to do at work?
