Minimum specs for dvd upscaling?

      I am trying to build a small and quiet HTPC wich basically has to support for DVD upscaling to 1080i and some other features that it is able to do with almost any specs.

      So the big question is how low-end can I go and still get upscaling 1080i to my Samsung LCD, DVI to HDMI, and what software should I use?
