I’ve got my new system built, and everything appears to be working well. I’m just having one small issue, that I haven’t figured out how to resolve. The picture quality appears to be a bit soft, so I don’t think I am getting a 1:1 pixel mapping between my card output and my TV. I am using this motherboard with an integrated ATI HD4200 IGP in Windows 7:
GIGABYTE GA-MA785G-UD3H

I am outputting through DVI using a DVI to HDMI cable from the HTPC to my TV. My old Nvidia card automatically output at the proper resolution without any problems and/or too much tweaking. There was a bit of overscan, which didn’t bother me because 99.99% of the time I was in the Media Center interface and the picture was very crisp. When the HD4200 came up, there was a significant amount of underscan going on. I verified it was using the correct resolution, but no matter how I tweaked it, I couldn’t get it to look like my old Nvidia did. I ended up just using the overscan/underscan settings to fill the screen. However, as I stated above, the picture just seems a bit soft – even on HD material.
I’m sure there’s one little setting I’m missing and you guys can get me pointed in the right direction.
