First off, welcome and thanks for coming back!
EDIT: I’ll be maintaining a list here of everyone’s feedback, so hopefully it’s easier to see when things are fixed.
- Forum Look & Feel, working on improving
- Old posts missing in forums
- The see all unread posts link was the way I waded through the forums everyday. It would be nice to have it.
- Too much white on white on white – FIXED
- It seems there is a large amount of white space at the end of everyone’s posts where the sig goes, but if the person has no signature, then it’s just a lot of wasted space. – FIXED
- Is there any way to view posts in chronological order instead of reverse order? – FIXED
- User avatars not showing – FIXED
- Old article backlinks are not taking you to the same review – FIXED (for articles, not forums)
- On the old site, the latest forum posts on the top of the page indicated whether or not there were new posts to the topics.
-
Comment to a blog/review/guide – need an option to be automatically notified of any future responses – FIXED
-
See original content post when replying to an item
-
Along the lines with #11, when you reply to a comment it would also be helpful to still be able to see all other comments that were made
- The “Forum” link looks like its been put in “time out” sitting on the other side of the search bar. – Won’t fix for now, but thanks for the suggestion. Maybe in the future
- Mark All as read button
- New since last visit button
- Consolidate the number of forums
- Iphone Browser format issues
Anything else? Please add a reply below and we’ll make sure to add it to our To-Do List!! While we can’t guarantee everything, hopefully we can work to get things closer.
Thanks
November 15, 2010 at 9:44 pm #29022ruwackdOn the old site, the latest forum posts on the top of the page indicated whether or not there were new posts to the topics. Is that planned to be added on the new site?
November 15, 2010 at 10:18 pm #29023skirge01Thanks for the heads up. These posts are great because it lets us know what our users found especially useful.
November 16, 2010 at 12:03 pm #29024jameson_ukLinks in posts like

no longer link to the original articlesNovember 16, 2010 at 1:05 pm #29025TeststripsI was really hoping to read Andrew’s Guide to Installing SageTV V7 again – http://www.missingremote.com/news/2010-11-12/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5211&Itemid=232
link just dumps me back to the main page 🙁
I skimmed through before upgrading, but was hoping to look at it again – especially regarding configuring the web interface.
November 16, 2010 at 2:31 pm #29026frijonesI only have couple of things.
1) The see all unread posts link was the way I waded through the forums everyday. It would be nice to have it.
2) I may be the only one, but I find the all white background very hard on my eyes. Especially in a darker room.
3) It seems there is a large amount of white space at the end of everyone’s posts where the sig goes, but if the person has no signature, then it’s just a lot of wasted space.
4) Is there any way to view posts in chronological order instead of reverse order?
Otherwise, I like it this site enhancement a lot more than others I’ve seen recently (i.e. NewEgg)

We definitely are aware of the broken old backlinks, and will work over time to fix them. In the meantime, you can still see this particular guide on the “Featured Guides” on the right hand side – http://www.missingremote.com/guide/installing-sagetv-v7-0
November 16, 2010 at 6:12 pm #29029Teststripsthank you!
November 16, 2010 at 8:55 pm #29030ruwackdI noticed one other thing, but its more of an asthetic issue than function. The “Forum” link looks like its been put in “time out” sitting on the other side of the search bar.
November 17, 2010 at 12:15 am #29031NayliaIn many places the text is soft rather than sharp…is this just me?
November 17, 2010 at 3:15 am #29032skirge01I’ve been going over the site quite extensively and have not seen anything which I’d describe like that. Can you give an example of where I might see this?
November 17, 2010 at 2:34 pm #29034dbone1026Hey Mike,
Here are a couple that came to mind:
1. When leaving a comment to a blog/review/guide post there is no option to be automatically notified of any future responses. A lot of times I will leave a comment/question and am interested in feedback but without an email reminder I generally forget to follow back up
2. When replying to a comment in a blog/review/guide post all the user can see is the comment the user is replying to, you cannot see the actual writeup (which comes in handy if trying to reference any information from the post in the comment)
3. Along the lines with #2, when you reply to a comment it would also be helpful to still be able to see all other comments that were made

Seems to be somehow related to firefox. Umm….can we post photos?
November 17, 2010 at 5:44 pm #29038skirge01Sorry, not just yet. We’re getting there, though. Feel free to email me a picture at skirge01 at missingremote dawt com.
BTW, I also use FF, so I’m very curious what you’re seeing.
Thanks!
