Alright, so I’m getting all the pieces together for my push into the HD world….

I revamped my Media Center PC to the following…

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Intel DG33TL mainboard
2GB DDR2 RAM
ATi Radeon HD 2600XT
Hauppauge HVR-1800
X-Mystique 7.1 Doly Digital Live card
LG GGC-H20L HDDVD/BluRay drive
Three Seagate 500GB HDDs and an 80GB for the OS to sit on….

Lovely piece of hardware, plays back all of my HD movies gloriously….  Went with the quad core for price (Intel Retailedge Bundle gave me board, OS and processor for 250) and my gamign rigs dual core was too slow (E6300) to playback HD properly….

Now, I just had Bright House drop off my new HD DVR box so I can receive cable in HD, I get all of my HD cables from Monoprice on Monday or Wednesday of next week, and I get my lovely new 52″ Sharp Aquos TV next Wednesday morning….

One more week and I’ll be in HD….

Ultimatly the big question here is in quality…..

I’m trying to run everything through the Media Center PC….  It uses PowerDVD to playback HDDVD and BluRay, till Microsoft does their own thing, and MCE to do everything else..  It is running Windows vista Ultimate 32-bit….

Now, the video card is capable of 1080P, but I also know that DVDs are not that high in resolution….    Does the ATi software do upconverting when displaying in 1080P?  So will it upconvert my regular DVDs for me?  Will it also upconvert regular TV coming in from the Hauppauge tuner, and will the HD channels continue to be in HD?

Everything will be hooked up using HDMI….

Thoughts?
