I post this as an FYI for anyone trying to decide on which analog/digital combo card to purchase. My intention is not to type bad things about Vista View products. I am passing on what Vista View support sent to me.
Not long ago I purchased a Vista View DA-1N1-I card (from PCAlchemy) so I could receive digital broadcasts OTA and clear QAM. I use SageTV for my PVR software.
I had no problems with analog tuning of cable stations nor did I have problems receiving OTA signals (uh … well … mmm … for the most part. reception at times was an issue, but I digress.).
I am now attempting to setup the clear QAM reception and this is where events have taken a nasty turn for the worse. Apparently, SageTV doesn’t currently support QAM on the Vista View DA-1N1-I (and most likely not on the DA-1N1-E either). This isn’t me getting upset and making this claim due to my one time experience, This is what I received from Vista View support when I emailed them asking for help. They did indicate they were working on getting QAM support with GBPVR and Media Portal (nothing about SageTV).
I believe the intended market for this card is Vista MCE machines which should support QAM tunning
NOTE: SageTV does support this card (through BDA drivers) for analog and OTA reception just not QAM.
If QAM is not an issue this would be a good tuner for analog and OTA reception. This is a low profile card (the low profile bracket is included).
