I’m curious as to the benefits of a core 2 quad vs duo. I have 2 xbox 360’s which I plan to use as extenders connected to the same machine. The machine will have 4 tuners (2 vbox cats eyes and 2 theater 550 pro’s.)  Right now I have the 4 tuners in a rig w/ a athlon 4000+ san diego and 2 gigs of ram. I’m lucky to try and record off of 3 tuners @ once and when I try to go 4, my extenders are practically unresponsive, while the system crawls. I’m due for an upgrade anyway and may also throw in a hdhomerun to the mix. The box will not be connected to a TV, just streaming to extenders.

I would still like to be able to use the PC for normal tasks (burning, surfing, etc) while it streams and records with all tuners being used and still have some juice left over.

I’m looking @ either a q6600 or save some money and go with the e6750. Also 3 gigs of ram. Also hoping someone can recommend wattage for a new psu. Id prefer to keep the wattage as low as possible. I calculate that 750 watter should be plenty, but if someone thinks I need more or can go with less, Id appreciate the advise.

    Below will be my specs.

    CPU: e6750 or q6600
    ram: 3gb ddr 800
    MB: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R
    VGA: 7800 gtx
tuners: 2 vbox catseyes, and 2 theater 550 pros
    harddrives: 6 sata 7200’s
soundcard: x-fi extreme music (i may nix this to leave more breathing room in the case)

    Any advise is greatly appreciated!
