This weekend I upgraded to Windows 7 and since the install my video card and tuner card appear to be using the same IRQ.  I came upon this because I’m getting really choppy video watching HDTV, which I didn’t have a problem with in Vista.  I cannot modify the setting in the device manager, since the checkbox is grayed out to let me choose my own.  I also can’t change slots which I’ve been reading online since I don’t have any extra to change to.  I’ve tried uninstalling and installing devices with no luck.  What else can I do to resolve this issue?

    Thanks for any help,

      BTW I’m using:

Hauppauge HVR-1800 and Nvidia GeForce 7300LE

First thing I would try is uninstalling them both, deleting any drivers, and reinstalling them one at a time.

WOW. I haven’t heard of an IRQ issue since before XP. I seem to remember having success by using a different PCI slot for one of the devices.

Just to be sure, have you installed the latest drivers from the NVIDIA web site?

Is Windows telling you there is an IRQ conflict, or are you deducing this just by looking at the device properties? Windows often gives the same IRQ to different HW devices and this does not mean there is a problem perse.

I uninstalled everything and reinstalled it all, new drivers and all and there does not seem to be the video problem anymore.

These two devices are still on the same IRQ according to system info.  Everything else has it’s own IRQ except these two.  Guess that’s the way it is.  Does this sound OK?  Windows is not giving me any errors, I just discovered this trying to trouble shoot the choppy video I was getting.  Seems like a lot of work all using the same channel, but maybe it’s normal.

I wouldn’t worry about it. It sounds like normal behavior. You most likely fixed your issue by installing the latest drivers.

After researching this further IRQ sharing doesn’t seem to be a problem and as you said it was probably driver issues and reinstalling likely did the trick.  Thanks for the help guys!
