Are there any benefits to software encoding? I have a hardware encoding card and I know some of the chips get very hot. Would a software encoding card be cooler since the CPU is doing more work? Seems like that could be a good thing since fast CPUs are cheap, and heat generated by a CPU is easier to remove from a case than heat generated in the expansion cards.
