As much I as do like Modern Family, my choice would have been Spartacus: Blood and Sand – The Complete First Season. I’m actually surprised you picked Modern Family over Spartacus given your affliction for action movies.
Then again Spartacus does limit its viewing audience significantly by the sheer amount of porn-esque behavior.
September 21, 2010 at 5:12 pm #27998A) Get back to work! 😛
B) I STILL haven’t seen anything but episode 1 of Spartacus…it’s taken me longer than i planned to get through The Pacific, and Spartacus is next…just haven’t gotten that far yet, so hence why i couldn’t recommend it 🙂
September 21, 2010 at 7:20 pm #27999I’m with Mikinho. Spartacus FTW this week. Can’t wait for the prequel and then season two!
Damn… talk about getting flack for not liking something! Sheesh! ;D For the record, my wife also didn’t find it funny, so there are TWO people who don’t care for it! 😛 Who knows… maybe we caught the only two bad episodes. Oh well… they blew their chance then.
Well speaking of Spartacus, dunno if you’d already heard this sad news from last week then:
http://tv.ign.com/articles/112/1121755p1.htmlAnd I’ll have to side with him on Modern Family as well… I’ve only seen a handful of episodes and wasn’t particularly into it.
September 22, 2010 at 3:36 pm #28001Oh wow, I had not heard. That is very sad for all parties involved. I hope Andy gets the treatment he needs and that Starz puts the show on indefinite hold, perhaps a spin-off of a different gladiator’s story.
September 22, 2010 at 4:22 pm #28002Oh man… no, I hadn’t heard that. Thanks for the link, jennyfur. (Side note: damn ads… had to disable every security add-on in FF to read the article.) That’s horrible. I really hope he beats it once again. I can’t even imagine what this recurrence is doing to him and his family.
I do hope Starz keeps the series alive in some other fashion, so that he can return when he beats it a second time. I wouldn’t mind a spinoff focusing on either Crixus or Doctore.
Woo-hoo, we’re up to three people who don’t care for Modern Family! Our numbers are growing! ;D

They already started filming a spinoff when Andy’s 1st bout with cancer delayed filming of season 2. It will now premiere in Jan 2011 when the 2nd season of Spartacus was supposed to debut.
“To fill the absence, Starz ordered a prequel called Spartacus: Gods of the Arena which focuses on co-stars Lawless and Hannah. It tells the tale of the rise of the House of Batiatus before Spartacus’ arrival in Capua.”
But now we have no idea what the plans for season 2 will be. Wait for Andy to get better? Recast his role? Film another prequel? I hope it won’t mean canceling the series altogether.
I knew about the prequel, but I was thinking about going back further with Crixus and Doctore, focusing on what led them to the arena in the first place. Maybe that will be covered in the prequel, but they haven’t really said anything besides the fact that it’s going to focus on the House of Batiatus.
September 23, 2010 at 12:45 pm #28005I haven’t had the time to check out Spartacus yet but I give Modern Family two Thumbs Up. The characters are great and it’s good family entertainment. How can you watch Manny and not love the show? The kid’s great and one of the best child actors to come along in a long time.
My absolute favorite episode is “Fifteen Percent” where Phil tries to teach Claire how to use the universal remote to control his home theater system. I identify with it because his wife is a clone of my own wife when it comes to technology. Had any of the non-believers seen this episode I’m sure they’d change their minds about the show.
September 23, 2010 at 3:46 pm #28006If I watch that episode and don’t find it absolutely hilarious (like I do Big Bang Theory), then I can finally, safely, give up on the show, knowing for sure that it’s just not my kind of humour? 😉 You guys sure are persistent! 😛
September 23, 2010 at 4:52 pm #28007lol, fair enough! 😛
September 23, 2010 at 5:38 pm #28008How can a show with Sofia Vergara not be good??

I can’t make you any promises other than my wife and I both love the Big Bang Theory. Modern Family is probably our 2nd favorite sitcom. I don’t watch that many sitcoms because most of them are simply lame. My wife doesn’t like much of anything on regular TV but she loves the show. It’s hard for me to find anything we can watch together that she likes but MF is one of the few exceptions.September 23, 2010 at 7:16 pm #28011
