I’m hoping this will increase the popularity of CableCard in general. Which can only be a good thing for HTPCs. Although the one-way nature of the existing implementation hurts it somewhat, and since I’ve read so many CableCard PC setup horror stories, it sounds like the cards are just plain flaky anyway. Shame. But I still want them to eventually succeed. Although now that I’ll be getting a copy of Vista, I’ll probably just rebuild my system myself and have to forgo CableCard since I won’t be buying from an OEM.
