I run my server, client and unraid file server 24/7.  I’m at the point where I would like to see if I can bring down my electric bill a bit.

    I read the two guides:
    http://www.missingremote.com/guide/configuring-standby-your-htpc
    http://www.missingremote.com/guide/keeping-your-htpc-awake

but I still have one question before I even start.  How do you wake up your client PC?  I’m using usb uirt and eventghost.  I’m guessing you need to have windows say that this device can wake it up, and then would it wake up as soon as it get’s any IR.  Not sure where to start on that one.  I googled, but couldn’t come up with much.

    Thanks,
    flips

What operating system and what architecture (32 vs 64)? I’m asking because USB-UIRT can have some issues waking from sleep.

For the USB-UIRT to wake from sleep you need to setup a preprogrammed IR code that has been been flashed into the non-volatile memory. I don’t know if EventGhost can access those but LRNHelper can.

        Thanks.  I’m on 32 bit w7.

I’m going to have to do some reasearch on lrnhelper.  Is it pretty self explainatory once I get in there?  I will try it tonight.

I retired my USB-UIRT about a year ago so it may no longer be accurate but I believe the settings were under the File menu > Wake-up Config.

LRMHelper wasn’t opening in windows 7, but then I found the latest version.

I found this on a pretty good thread on the Sage forums:
