The Poor State of HDMI Audio in PCs

I am agonizing over this as well.  I want to play Blueray and HDDVD via HTPC and enjoy my Onix Rockets to the fullest, but the PC industry is so far behind.  I am thinking about just buying the standalone players instead.  However that kind of defeats the point of an HTPC.
