I watched the premier last night and I definitely see this sticking around for a couple seasons. I just hope it doesn’t end up being another Jeremiah where a few guys just run around helping lost people and looking for some magical place where there is a cure for the zombies.
November 2, 2010 at 5:00 pm #28821The “cure” for zombies is trauma to the head :oP
November 2, 2010 at 7:40 pm #28822Thanks for mentioning this. It totally escaped my radar and I usually like Frank Darabont stuff.
November 2, 2010 at 10:42 pm #28823I started watching it, but haven’t finished yet. I’ve made it to the point where the young boy whacks him in the head thinking he’s a zombie. My first thought when he woke up in the hospital was why didn’t any zombies get him in his room?
I like zombie movies, but as a TV show I can see it getting stagnant. I am afraid of the same thing as you, Meester.Rip. In zombie movies, the part that interests me most is the zombies after people and what they have to do to either fend them off or escape them. On a TV show, you can’t have them running from zombies all the time, but at the same time I don’t want to just see people talking and not really doing anything. I don’t care anything about setting up a story or going through any back-stories. They almost lost me from the start when he and his deputy was in the car talking about women.
November 3, 2010 at 12:11 am #28824from what i’ve read about the show, there’s quite a bit of characters in the story line (based off the book?) so hopefully it stays true. i too am concerned about it getting stagnant, but i enjoyed the first episode and will definitely stick around for at least half a season to see how it handles it.
November 3, 2010 at 11:15 am #28825I thought I read somewhere that it was only going to run for six episodes. I just checked epguides.com and they only have six episodes listed.
November 3, 2010 at 12:06 pm #28826That’s usually what networks do now. They test the waters and see how it’s received. If it does well, they’ll order a full season of 10-13 episodes. If it does extremely well (rare) and they’re very confident, they’ll order a 2nd season. Otherwise, after the 10-13 episodes, they’ll examine the results and determine whether a 2nd season will happen. Spartacus was an extremely rare case where the network was so confident after just the screenings (before it had even aired a single episode) that they ordered a second season right away.
November 3, 2010 at 1:49 pm #28827I’ll definitely watch the 6 episodes and hope they can come up with fresh material to continue.
As far as Spartacus, I wonder how it will go with them having to cast a new actor for Spartacus.

November 3, 2010 at 2:10 pm #28829I can’t exactly argue that, Mikinho. I will say that the sex seemed more than a little gratuitous, but I’m no historian, so maybe that was an accurate portrayal, just as they were going for. I also thought the gore was a bit over the top, but I even wrote that off to accuracy and quickly learned to deal with it because the story was so compelling.
Considering how well the casting crew did with season one, I’m going to give them some well-deserved respect and trust that they will do another fine job in casting the lead character again. That said, I would hope that if Andy is well enough to return at some point in the future, that they’ll give him back the role he created.
November 3, 2010 at 2:30 pm #28830The story was very compelling. Monica and I almost abandoned the show once or twice in the beginning of the season but it later became our favorite show of the TV season. I think we even [shudder] watched it live.
It was just tough to watch while the kids were still awake :-[
November 3, 2010 at 10:41 pm #28831i’m hooked on spartacus thanks to you all!! i left it after the first episode bored me, but am really into it now. I think i only have like 3 more episodes to go on season 1. Not sure how i’m gonna respond to a new spartacus though, that guy was pretty good
November 4, 2010 at 12:07 am #28832I was under the impression that TWD was just going to be a six-episode series. I just checked the AMC website and saw a link to discuss Season 1, Episode 1 of the show. I guess that means the door is definitely open for an expanded series if it gets good ratings. Money talks in Hollywood.
November 4, 2010 at 1:56 am #28833From what I understood, they had quite a lot of material to pull from and cobble together some good stories. I imagine they have a plan for a much longer series, if the network allows.
November 5, 2010 at 12:58 am #28834Is anyone watching The Walking Dead in HD? It pained me to have to watch it in SD. It looked bad and low production. My wife was watching and said, “It just doesn’t look right. It looks ‘cheap’.” I told her it was because it wasn’t HD. DirecTV doesn’t have AMC in HD, so I didn’t know if cable did or not. I can’t believe I’m going to watch a season of something in SD. HD, you have ruined me!
