I have just made the leap from Cable Company provided DVR to Media Center with Dual DCT’s and the SDV issue is now looming over my head. I have not even told the wife yet. We had enough bumps getting Cable Card to work in the first place.
The one thing for me that I see as a possible alternative is DirectTV. If TimeWarner pulls the SDV card out in my area and the DirectTV tuners are available, I will think really hard about making the switch. I am already thinking hard about it since the only reason I have left DirectTV off the table as a possibility was the lack of true Media Center integration. I think a number of people may follow me down that path if the price is right for the DirectTV tuners.
