I just put together my HTPC using a HVR-2250 tuner card and it is giving me no signal on any channels (ATSC) that come in perfectly when I plug the cable into my TV. I ran Hauppauge’s signal monitor on both tuners when trying to view channels and they give an SNR of 0. Anyone have an idea of whether I’m doing something wrong or if there might be a hardware problem with my tuner? I bought an open box tuner which was supposedly tested as working but I’m not sure if I believe that now.
For installation, I installed Win7 Pro 64 bit, installed all windows updates, then installed the 2250 drivers and MC integration from the Hauppauge CD. I’ve also tried downloading the drivers from the internet. And of course I’ve gone through the TV setup process in MC. Is there something I didn’t do? MC does appear to be “activating” the tuners because until I try to tune to a channel the signal monitor program says the tuners are sleeping, and then it doesn’t after I tune. But of course MC complains that it can’t receive the channel and the monitor says SNR is 0.
If I get a chance today, I may try installing XP MC just to see if it does any better there.
So I’m trying to determine if I need to return this tuner and get another one, or if I simply have a configuration issue. I’m leaning on the former but what do I know?
