I have been using Logitech Harmony remotes for years and think they’re great. But now we have a bunch of smart entertainment equipment (TiVo, LG TV LG Blu-ray, XBox). There are lots of places now where we can perform a text search (YouTube, VUDU, TiVo, NetFlix) and currently we have to use the arrow keys to navigate an alphabet grid. Very frustrating. So you know what I want. A Harmony with a keyboard (which doesn’t exist). But here is my question. Could it work? Let’s take my LG Blu-ray player that we use to stream movies from NetFlix and VUDU. Unless it is programmed to know what to do when you start shooting letters at it from a keyboard, nothing will happen, right? Unless there is some ANSI standard IR protocol that includes the alphabet, I don’t see how it could work. Is there a universal remote/keyboard? I don’t care about ease of setup. I am a programmer.
