I wanted to update the little mini review of the product from the old post. Yesterday I spent some time with the tuner and win7 trying to get it to work. After no luck I spent some time on the forums and I found that there is a beta driver for the hdtv-gt for windows 7. Once I updated to these it was like flipping a switch and now everything works amazingly. The date on the driver did not match the one listed on the forum but the version number matched.
After setting up a analog cable signal (you can have both analog cable and QAM running at the same time) you have to manually setup the qam tuner. That being said I figured it out without issue so I am sure most people will not have a problem. Once I got it going it found a few of my qam channels but not all. It appears that the qam may be a bit weaker in pulling in signal but once I dropped an extension line and went straight from the wall it found everything my qam tuners in my tvs found without issues. I didn’t have to manually enter them either at this point.
So now I have a tuner that does both analog and digital cable (one one tuner though so you can only watch/record one channel) but overall very very nice. Actually an ideal setup for many in the US I would argue that have cable since that is analog but also carries locals in qam.
So now went from an atsc signal tuner to a digital cable and analog cable which will be very nice in my scheduling. Since I also have a 1600 getting atsc this added a channel or two that I don’t get through the air due to signal strength and location.
Thanks again for letting me play with this tuner and all btw.
