Well, my job of 13 years finally closed its doors March 30. Now I am in the process of becoming a part time PC Field Tech. The company requires that an anti-static mat and strap be used. I’ve never used one before when working on my own PCs, just always been willing to take the risk of damaging my own stuff. I’m a little unsure of how to properly set up the mat because every time I do a search there’s a contradicting answer to the question. “Leave the power supply plugged in”, “Unplug the power supply”, “You don’t need a strap or mat”….That’s what I see all the time.
So what exactly is the proper procedure?
