Okay, I’m ready to upgrade my 6150 video to something that will smoothly play HD. I could stand the jerkiness on TV shows, but football games are where I draw the line! (I’ve currently got a ASUS MN2NPV-VM motherboard (with 6150 graphics) in an Antec Fusion case, and I’m running MCE2005.)
I’ve pretty much narrowed my search down to the passively cooled Gigabyte 8600GT card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125075). Anyone know for sure if this will fit in an Antec Fusion case? Looks like the top of the heat sink may touch the top.
I liked this MSI card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127293) because it put the heat sink on the back, which would be over my unused PCI Express 1x slot, but the stinking heat pipes look to be way too tall for my case.
Then I stumbled across this HIS card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161185), which looks like will have no problem at all fitting into my case. The problem with it is I can’t find any reviews of it. It is a Radeon HD 2600XT based card. Anyone have an opinion of it?
I was going to stick with NVIDIA, but I guess I shouldn’t exclude the Radeon cards…
BTW, what gives with card manufacturers not giving card dimensions?
Also, for those of you who use passively cooled cards, I see lots of comments in Newegg about people saying the heat sinks get really hot. My first thought is, duh, that is what it is supposed to do. Should I be worried about cooling in this case? I obviously expect things to heat up, but I have no plans to add any slot fans or mod my case.
