Tuesday, I started watching the Rose Bowl on my HTPC on my local digtal ABC station, and I noticed that I seemed to be having some jumping/jitter issues.  It was kind of slight, but I thought I was having a small reception issue.  But I found it strange because I was getting very good signal strength when I checked it on my DirecTV receiver before changing over to the HTPC.  So it occurred to me to go in to Sage’s setup and change it from VMR9 to Overlay.  After the switch and going back to the game the picture was very smooth.  I still thought that that couldn’t be it so I switched back to VMR9 and went back to the game.  Again the jumping occurred so I switched back to Overlay and have kept it there since and have had smooth playback.  I use VMR9 for the DVD renderer and don’t have a problem.  Is VMR 9 not good for HD playback?  Or is the video card just not up to the task to use VMR9 with HD?  I thought a 2600xt would be good enough to use VMR9.
