I run ads on GeekTonic and they bring in enough money to pay for the costs of running it including hosting, giveaways I do on occasion and other costs but the per-hour pay is pretty much negative 😉 . I hate ads myself, but if they aren’t obtrusive with lots of flash, popups and such they don’t bother me enough to block them. I hope that those that do understand where that article is coming from. At some point it does hurt the sites – especially the smaller, niche sites like MissingRemote and GeekTonic.
