The one thing that only RDP is capable of is concurrent sessions – AFAIK all the other solutions only work with the active desktop. Probably not an issue for a headless server as is the main focus of that article, but definitely something to be considered for many.
On the Live Mesh remote capabilities, the remote folder sync is pretty cool but their remote desktop solution is horribly slow compared to LogMeIn. You also can’t play live TV in Media Center using Live Mesh, which I’ve found a very useful capability of LogMeIn for remote troubleshooting (not useful for actually watching TV of course as the video looks like crap).
