Another thank you for the new beta! I was very sad for a month without Yammm magically working in the background on my computer.
October 24, 2013 at 10:12 pm #33241BuddyWeiserOF COURSE! I was replacing the images in “C:ProgramDataYammmImagesMovieArtwork” and it wasn’t working. I wasn’t sure if I there was another file I needed to replace or what. Thanks Phil and Michael!
Michael,
What purpose does C:ProgramDataYammmImagesMovieArtwork serve if WMC uses images from C:ProgramDataYammmDvdCoverCache?
Just curious.

The MovieArtwork is a bug…well it is meant for MyMediaCenter only. The DvdCoverCache is a cache for Windows Media Center
October 25, 2013 at 3:17 am #33243obiwanHaving trouble with install. I downloaded yammm_setup_w7_13_10_22_0076.exe and am trying to install it on Win7 Ultimate 64bit but get error message from installer that the Yamm (x64) for Windows 7 can only be installed on Microsoft Windows 7. Any thoughts why? .Net4 client profile is installed.

It also requires SP1 on W7. No technical reason other than SMB on W7 SP0 sucks. Lots of fixes and performance improvements in SP1.
If you can’t update to SP1 I’ll release an updated installed ASAP.
October 25, 2013 at 9:15 am #33245BuddyWeiserWhy is it that in WMC7, some movies have only “Synopsis”, and others have that, and “Cast & Crew” and “Similar Movies” etc. And also, why is it that in the “Similar Movies” section, EVERY single movie listed says “Not In Guide”, when alot of them are in fact in my guide. For example, I have Fantastic Four in my movie guide. Under Similar Movies, it lists X2:X-Men United(which I ALSO have listed in my movies)

Does this have anything to do with Yammm? or is it to do with WMC7 or TMDB? And, is there anyway to fix this?

Yammm adds proper cached metadata which allows Media Center to look up the additional Cast & Crew and Similar Movies sections. But it will allow show it after you go to a movie details once and then leave. This is a limitation in Media Center.

Its an issue with the metadata used by Windows Media Center to make the link. They design WMC to use AMC which is now owned by Rovi. Some items in the feed used by Media Center is broken.
I did find out how to replace all this behavior in Media Center but it is a larger task.
October 25, 2013 at 1:05 pm #33247sorethumbsI did notice that when YAMMM has done its stuff on a folder the folder.jpg is often different to the image in C:ProgramDataYammmDvdCoverCache anyway.
Does YAMMM populate C:ProgramDataYammmDvdCoverCache with covers from one place but put a different image into the movie folder – but defaults to display the image in C:ProgramDataYammmDvdCoverCache when viewing media center.
I noticed it by accident with ‘Taken (2008)’
October 25, 2013 at 1:49 pm #33248Noob_of_mediaplayersI just signed up! I only started usingthe old version a few months ago and I love it! It worked so well. I have been on the side lines eagerly anticipating the release of this Beta and it did exactly what it should do. I did what was suggested, uninstalled old version, installed this version and worked a treat. I am on Win 7, with all the updates. 27.3MB of RAM useage when sat idle I’ll would say not much more when updating library as it had little impact on the resources. I only use it at present for the covers and the year/folder renaming. I would like to see a text version of the the film information, be amazing for media players such as WD live boxes etc. I guess a form build of a text file could work, maybe I can manipulate the movie database file myself , I’ll have a look at this and let you know if I get it to work.
Once again Micheal, we all appreciate your efforts this truely is a peice of awesomeness 😀
October 25, 2013 at 6:51 pm #33249joespontiacAny ideas why the installer would say I dont have windows 7 when I do?
Edit: Sorry just seen the post about it requiring sp1
October 26, 2013 at 2:41 pm #33253obiwanYou’ve put a ton of work into this and it’s appreciated. If it’s not too much of a pain can you release an install that doesn’t need SP1? Thanks

Thanks MW for firing this together – been refreshing and anxiously waiting.
I’ve used your YAMMM in conjunction with MetaX to organize thousands of movies for years, so this is exciting for me to get back to it.Couple notes:
I’ve saved and restarted, re-installed, and reset my machine so not sure what to do next.Folder pictures are downloading (no backdrops though)
Metadata files are not coming through.
Folder Renaming is not working
imdb tag did not pull a folder picture through (as a test).
tmdb tag pulled pictures through only.Setting on are:
Rename & Use Sort titles
Rename Movie Files & Associated
Meta Data (Win7 and XBMC are both on)
Artwork dowload (all are on)On – V13.10.20.94
My test folder has 50 movies in it, all recent.
Future requests
Actual Metadata modifications that we can choose the fields that are populated. If you open up metax application you can see the fields, problem is metaX can only do 1 file at a time and if you add it to the automation you have in your app, you will have a full solution that not only renames, but cleans up and standardizes the metadata of all files. Things like IMDB Rating, Synopsys, Genre, Actors, Director, Release year, Parental Rating ect. Thanks again!
Thanks

Can you try the latest build? Feature request accepted.

Hi Michael.
First of all – thank you so much for the most useful piece of software on my movie rig. I absolutely love YAMMM and the fact that it’s available for free download is just amazing. Keep up the great work!
One question, where do I get V13.10.20.94?
I can only see V13.10.22.76 in the post?
Many thanks
Trev

Two things:
1- For those without any metadata showing in Windows Media Center.
This is most likely due to multiple dvdid.xml files within your Movie folders. If this happens you’ll need to delete on.
I would just delete them all and restart Yammm but you may want some of the metadata depending on previous apps used.
If you do want to clear all of it…you can run the below command from your movie folder
del /s *.dvdid.xml
net stop YammmSvc && net start YammmSvc
2- I’m traveling tomorrow so if I’m slow to respond, I apologize.

Hi Michael. Really grateful that the Yammm finally works again! Great thanks! I’m using Windows Media Center on Windows 7. The artwork is now working, the movie posters are updating and visible. However, no synopsis available for new movie folders. The old movie folders still have metadata, and the synopsis appears. I tried to restart the Windows Media Center, restart the Yammm, but still didn’t work. Pardon me, but I don’t understand the meaning of ‘multiple dvdid.xml files’ you mentioned as I couldn’t find the dvdid.xml files within my new movie folders as you mentioned before. I don’t have the courage to run the delete command to clear all, as the previous metadata on the old movie folders are still exist. Really need your guidance. How am I supposed to do? Was there any setting that I missed? Is it possible to see the right/default setting for the YAMMM config? Where could I find it? in this forum or on the web/blog? Also, since the beginning, I tick the IMDb rating column on the setting, but it never give any rating since I started using the first version of YAMMM (1.20) few years ago. What else needed to have those rating? Really appreciate for the help.
