x64 Windows shouldn’t really present you any issues in general. I’m not well-versed in the FireFly remote. Do any drivers exist that work in x64 Windows 7?

Edit: NM, I see you are past that point. You may need to make a query with the EventGhost author or in that thread if the info is not clear.

Sure. Give them a try. Just make a backup (Export) of the registry folder with the entries if you want to revert.

The GPU built into SandyBridge should serve you well unless you require something special. The Core i3 is probably a good choice for your requirements for serving you well into the future. If you think you might be doing something like commercial skip analysis, you should probably consider the Core i5.

I would like to convince you that this is a bad idea 🙂

Imagine that you are recording <insert your favorite show> and you conclude watching a recorded show. If the <insert favorite show> is on the last channel you were viewing, the behavior you describe will dump you right into the middle of the <insert favorite show>.

in reply to: I store the entire BDMV #6353
            Aaron Ledger

I store the entire BDMV folder because I want to retain maximum flexibility so if I feel like menus, I can use that or I can just play the main title since the files are all there. I also don’t have to think about seamless branching titles or anything else. It’s the maximum lazy/flexibility approach with the cost being space.

You can do it any way that suits your fancy, of course.

                  Aaron Ledger

Unfortunately, Blu-ray content on the Xbox 360 can be a major pain. Some content may work without any transcoding, but others will require it due to the inherent playback limitations of the Xbox.

You may be best off maintaining a transcoded copy of the source just for your Xbox extenders and then keep things simple for the HTPC and maintain an unmolested BDMV or ISO which you can use to derive the lossless audio track and ship off as PCM to your AVR.

You’ll just have to get a 6950. IIRC, it can do 3x 2560×1600.

Edit: maybe not. It looks like it might only do 2. What’s a millionaire to do?

                            Aaron Ledger

I have the latest updates installed on my HTPC with the Ceton InfiniTV 4 and nothing is broken on the system.

Sorry, I should have just wrote signal-to-noise instead of Eb/No. It is a measure of the quality of the incoming signal. If the ratio is extremely low (which is relative to exactly what is being looked at), it indicates a potential issue. Think of it like talking in a crowded bar where all the other voices are the “noise” and the person you are listening to is the “signal.” If the volume of the signal is too low compared to the noise, you’ll have a difficult time hearing the intended message.

                              Aaron Ledger

SubExpireTime is probably not a Motorola feature. Perhaps you were not receiving the EMMs (Entitlement Management Messages) for whatever reason. Check your OOB (Out of band) S/N and lock. If it is becoming unlocked or has a really low Eb/No, that could be something that is possibly caused in your coax setup. Things like damaged cable, too much attenuation or use of low quality splitters could be a cause of poor OOB performance.
