The depth of exploration of Tony Soprano was really refreshing. He’s an extremely interesting character and just so happens to be involved in a life of crime for his occupation. I don’t really want to say too much about it because it sounds like you’ll really enjoy the journey and I don’t want to spoil.

So I found that Andrew’s guide worked pretty well for installing the NIC driver. You can check my comment to the guide for exactly what I did, but I did not need to used 7zip to extract driver.

Can you post a screenshot of FilterGraph with the file?

I watched most of The Sopranos. I can’t answer your question directly as I have not seen Boardwalk Empire. With respect to the Sopranos, I think of it as a strong character-based drama where the characters happen to be involved in mob activities. In other words, it’s more about the human experience than it is about the mob per se.

BTW, If you use GraphStudio, you can drag the file in there and see exactly what is being used for the audio and video processing of the file.

According to blu-ray.com, Total Recall is MPEG-2.

You might try installing the optional Catalyst package “AMD Media Codec Package” as I think it will install a VC-1 codec that WMP can utilize for HW decodes of VC-1.

What hardware are you playing back on? The Mask is VC-1.

in reply to: Since you are ripping with #5147
                    swoon

Since you are ripping with the DTS HD audio track, it contains lossy DTS core audio as well which means that you should be able to bitstream that portion through S/PDIF. Since you are able to get stereo sound, it seems that what you are doing is decoding the audio to PCM and then sending via S/PDIF.

It has been a while since I have used FFDShow Audio, but IIRC, there is an output section where you can configure audio passthrough types your AVR can accept. Are AC3 and DTS selected there?

Glad to hear it. I’m going to be running through this myself soon so if our guide needs a little massaging, we’ll update it.

Make sure you have the Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers installed and the chipset inf installed. Also, turn on write-caching in the Windows drive properties and see where that gets you.

Did you format drive with 64k clusters as well?

What kind of board/chipset do you have? Have you loaded the chipset and storage drivers?

Did this also happen with your 8600 GT GPU? I’m assuming you are using the latest Catalyst drivers for your Radeon.

Is the drive that contains your recorded TV also the system drive?

Glad you got it working and didn’t have the pleasure of a $75 “install” fee.

Have them hit your CableCARD again. They probably didn’t do it properly. With Cox San Diego, you won’t need the TA for popular channels like CNN or ESPN, but you will need to be properly paired and authenticated. Most of the TA channels on Cox San Diego are little used SD channels. It is possible they are doing things slightly differently since you are North County Cox and I am South.
