That’s my opinion as well.  If I really want surround sound, I will set up speakers rather than spend a bunch of money on fake surround.  The Boston is just a direct replacement of the TV speakers and comes with a handy wireless sub, all for $300.  It’s the choice I would make.

I’m planning on getting it.  I haven’t play civ much in the past though, so I will have a learning curve.

The HD baseT systems use HDCP.  In fact, you still need a standard HDMI chip in the mix for HD BaseT to work.  So that means that HD BaseT is also probably hacked.

The GDDR5 5570 cards approach the 5670 in speed.  Most are still using GDDR3 though.

The other bit of speculation is around full support for Cable Card. Sage has licensed PlayReady DRM, which is the DRM used for CableCard on PCs. The new HD300 also uses a processor that supports PlayReady DRM.

Netflix has also moved to PlayReady, so maybe that’s the target. We won’t know until Sage formally releases something. But some of the pieces are coming into place.

SageTV almost HAS to enable Cable Card and Netflix or else there will be a lot of disappointed folks.  The rumors have me really excited.

    Naylia,

Why did you get the video card?  We got  your Intel G45 onboard graphics working fine.  Was it only because you wanted some gaming?

man, I see this little box as huge potential as a quick and easy bedroom or under cupboard kitchen tv install

depending on how easy it is to feed all my current content to it, it could be a godsend

i can’t build a htpc that small, for that cheap

You also can’t build a HTPC that useless…
