I think the the lack of media aggregation (a “jukebox”) is probably the biggest issue for non-techies because you need to browse around and be comfortable selecting a specific file for playback.  Zappiti and MM solve that issue, but both require maintenance when changing available titles.  I completely agree on your points around the current BD-Lite implementation in Sage for TV series on BD.  It’s one place where menu support is really important so a significant portion of the BD “testing” I did with the Prime was with those kinds of disks – and it worked great 🙂

If he would prefer a smaller form factor (like the HD200) it might we worth checking out the modular Dune Smart lineup that should be coming later this month.

I’m hoping to see at least a few Missing Remote members there.

As much as I’d like to be there, not sure I’d be able to sell that to the wife 🙂

It looks like the 24 pin power connector on many boards will end up underneath the optical drive tray, so moving it further under the tray may be an issue.

Does the change impact the dimensions of the case or just move the board forward inside?

Have you used them long?  I’ve tried 4 different models and they are extremely quiet…for about a month and then the high pitched whine starts.  I’ve had several that lasted 6 months but thats it.  I even RMA’d a few thinking it could be a bad batch and but same outcome.

I have had 4 or 5 of their 60/80mm fans (using a 60 and an 80 in my main box right now).  Usually have to replace them after ~18 months so not quite as hardy as some other vendors, but acceptable considering the CFM @dba.

This is due to the difficulty in finding any quiet 60mm fans on the market.

SilentX makes a very quiet 60mm.

Any interest in golden color?  I thing that only black and silver will be popular in the USA.

The case needs to match the other A/V components, so I don’t think there would be much demand for a gold colored case (never seen a gold AVR).

From your description I would not recommend a 32GB SSD drive.  Even for a pure HTPC 32GB is fairly tight after updates, caches, ….  You start with 15GB-18GB free and in ~6 months you’ll have 1GB free.

If you plan to do light gaming and “standard computer” it just won’t be enough.  Most people with a 32GB SSD will move caches, the pagefile and other system folders to their data drive which really limits the usefulness of a SSD.  Spend a little extra and get a 60GB or 64GB drive.

                                  32GB isn’t enough
