Two things:

1) It might be nice to copy/paste/trim a version of this guide that shows just the steps nessisary for using an entirly extender based setup.
2) You spefically call out the comskip playback plugin, but never any plugin that actually runs comskip.

1) Good idea

2) Yep, that was an intentional scoping decision.ย  If I covered all of the stuff I do to make everything on the HTPC work the guide would be 20-30 pages, and then I wouldn’t have material for more guides ๐Ÿ™‚

Nothing that needs to be kept under wraps, just something I haven’t tried and found on Doom9 which requires some system modifications.

It can decode TrueHD to LPCM, but will only decode core DTS from DTS-MA.ย  There is a way to get the ArcSoft audio decoder to decode both to lossless LPCM, but that’s a more advanced topic ๐Ÿ™‚

Sorry – I don’t have a HDHR or use QAM in Sage. ย The m780s I used in the guide should be able to handle QAM though, so I’ll give it a go and see what’s different.

Yeah – all the messing with filters (AC3Filter/Ffdshow) is only required for local playback.

80% of what Sage does just work OOTB – nailing the other 20% requires effort ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, with CableCard Sage would cross one of the only big features still missing from the platform.

While I don’t have much need for it since Intel HD Graphics has handled everything I’ve thrown at it, if I was an 3D HDTV owner I would jump all over it.

The HQV-HD scores aren’t looking that great, so it might be worth waiting a couple drivers to see if they can clear that up.
