The EVGA 210 arrived today. I was very excited to install it, and then I ran into a small road bump. The EVGA requires a 300 W power supply and 18 A on the +12 rail. My power supply was only 250 W and 17 A on the +12 rail.
FWIW – I’ve used a 210 in my 150W pico PSU powered HTPC w/o issues.

Is there a way to quantify the quality of conditioning to compare a UPS with something that just does conditioning?
I ask because we have power outages occasionally so I use a UPS now, and I like the idea of having the battery to let the TV cool down properly if the power goes out. But if it’s not as good as something different it would be worth trading out.

Why wouldn’t you want to use a UPS with power conditioning features built in?

Probably a disrespectful driver. Run powercfg /lastwake to figure out which one.

Geeks aren’t the people this thing is aimed at. Geeks would pay a little more and get a Zino.
1) I disagree. If it weren’t aimed at geeks they wouldn’t have swapped out the Tegra for a more capable SOC. Non-geeks don’t care about high bit-rate AVC decoding; the Apple TV a perfect e.g. of a device targeted at that demographic.
2) You missed the context of that statement. It was in reference to the hackability of the device, now that it’s x86 based it would be much easier to repurpose into a nice little Myth client for e.g..

Form factor and geek appeal.

Personally I completely agree, but there is a large segment of the market that doesn’t need DVR functionality and just want a streamer that works but doesn’t look like a DLNA browser.
I’m also interested in the potential to buy one of these and use it as a client PC 🙂
