Personally I completely agree, but there is a large segment of the market that doesn’t need DVR functionality and just want a streamer that works but doesn’t look like a DLNA browser.
I’m also interested in the potential to buy one of these and use it as a client PC 🙂
7MC will wake up for recordings, and I believe that the 360 will send a WOL packet to the HTPC when it tries to connect – I don’t think the other 7MC extenders will.

Wouldn’t standby be a better option? The difference in watts b/w S3 and S5 is usually just a couple, and it comes back up much faster.

What do you see in GraphStudio with the EVR (which will use the stock presenter)?

Now that Sage has there own MKV splitter I’ve been using the ArcSoft TMT2 Video Decoder instead, so I haven’t messed w/ the Intel one for a while.
The MediaSDK VC-1 decoder is DXVA2 only on Intel GPUs (tested with an i5 and i3), on other GPUs it’s SW only (~15% on my Q6600 + ATI3650).Â
Now that Sage has there own MKV splitter I’ve been using the ArcSoft TMT2 Video Decoder instead, so I haven’t messed w/ the Intel one for a while.
