Thanks for the heads up. I’ll reach out to ASRock and see if we can get one in.
babgvantKeymasterEbay is the ultimate trade-in (up) program :).
babgvantKeymasterI would guess that Ceton views its efforts to layer Android onto the Echo as an option for this use case + DVR.
BTW, does the WDTB Live support DCTP-IP? Cox copy-once’d most of the channels I watch live here, so I haven’t been able to use the HDHR’s feature much.
babgvantKeymasterI’ve been waiting for this guy for forever. Glad it finally arrived.

Some Missing Remote forum users have recommended this keyboard in the past
$34.99 & FREE Shipping
+1

2. MoCA which i love, i’m afraid is not an option, the back house is a totally different structure
So :).
Unless there is a MoCA filter installed b/w the main structure and yours MoCA should work (assuming that you’re not on different cable nodes (you shouldn’t be if it’s that close)). This is one of the big reasons why enabling encryption is so important if you use MoCA.
babgvantKeymasterHave you tried a highly directional antenna?
Or, MoCA if you’re on the same node and there aren’t filters on the lines :).

Being a budget build, I will have to look into this further. Anyone ever get a “refurbished” SSD from New Egg? I was wondering how that might work out.
I get that, but it’s a $30-40 difference and the trade-off is that you’ll be able to put more than just the OS on it. 32 isn’t big enough, 40 is really tight, 60 is OK, I don’t use anything < 90 (but I like to install apps that most people won’t).

RAM: Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-148-347&Tpk=N82E16820148347

Get DDR3 1600.

Main HDD:SanDisk 32GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-171-667&Tpk=N82E16820171667

I’d get at least a 60GB.

(i know this one is going to sound dumb) Does the HDMI port on a mobo supply sound like a regular HDMI from say a DVD player?
Yep.
babgvantKeymasterI’ll second the IOGEAR recommendation. I use the same keyboard, works great even where other models have struggled. That said, try adding in a USB extension cable b/w the PC & dongle it makes a huge difference in range.
Skip the dinovo mini, it’s a POS.
babgvantKeymasterSometimes results are more important that dignity ;).
babgvantKeymasterI prefer the flexibility of an Ethernet tuner over other factors. I like that I can put it anywhere (currently using a HDHR + HDHRP in a structured wiring cabinet).
babgvantKeymasterThat’s a hard one. I’m not aware of anything besides a home automation system that will get that done better than simple light timers.

Now I’m aware of the well-known 0-255 vs 16-235 issue on the HD 3/4000 chips, but was willing to live with that until they fixed it.

We discussed this at CES w/ some of the GPU people. Hopefully something happens w/ it.

Unfortunately, if you boot the machine with both the DVI and HDMI connections plugged in (doesn’t matter whether they are active or not) the video driver decides you are violating HDCP and you’ll be greated with the dreaded “Display Driver Error: The video playback device does not support playback of protected content.”
When you check the sound properties control panel does it report that HDCP is supported or not?
There are work around to this (HDMI splitter comes to mind).

What if you wanted to run your media center UI on the second screen, and see the video on the first?
If I understand what you’re saying I don’t think WMC supports that.
So this is obviously broken, and I strongly suspect it’s the sort of thing that will never make the priority list …

I’ve run Intel iGPUs w/ multiple “displays” connected before w/o this problem. Can you explain where you’re seeing the error message?
babgvantKeymaster
A prime example of why I won’t buy a motherboard with Intel onboard video. As a former Intel employee (over a decade gone, thank goodness), it pains me to say that Intel graphics are tolerable for text-based applications like word processing, spreadsheets, and charts; they suck for anything else. Which you now know.
I have had good luck with both Nvidia and AMD graphics for “true video.”

In my experience, I have not found this to be an accurate statement.
