Thank you to everyone who responded. I greatly appreciate it.
dbocce3Thank you both for your replies. That is a huge help and I will rip them as BDMV files.
SikSlayer, which ClownBD program should I use? I am not familiar with this program and when I go to it’s website, it offers 4 different downloads without a description of them.
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

dbocce3Thank you everyone for your help. I was able to connect just as Mike said. You guys are always amazing!
dbocce3Thanks Aaron for your reply.

Those are certainly some pathetic speeds. I easily hit 800 Mbps+ on WHS 2011 with essentially nothing other than a default config, consumer-grade GigE switches and Intel NICs.
First step: Update ALL of your drivers to the latest including BIOS. Use the manufacturer drivers and not those from Windows Update. Do this on both client and server.
Second Step: Try a transfer bypassing your Linksys. Verify you can get a decent transfer speed directly connected.
Third Step: Add the Linksys back and try again. Honestly, it is worth buying a GigE switch for the type of transfers you are doing. I have had good luck with this very reasonably priced D-Link switch. Wireless file transfers are going to be slow no matter what. If you are intent on doing them, consider upgrading to a Wireless-N solution.

Aaron,
I updated all drivers and picked up a Netgear GS108 switch. Now the problem I am having is that the server can’t access the internet. Everything else that is plugged into the switch (including wireless router) can access the internet. This means that I can’t connect to the server from any clients and the ‘Launchpad’ can’t sign in. I restarted the server and the switch and have had no luck.
Any ideas of why this is happening now?

Aaron, a question.
When you say bypass the Linksys, do you mean connecting the server to a client via an ethernet cable?
dbocce3Thank you for your help everyone. I was able to map the drives (folders) from my WHS 2011 Server onto my laptop clients.
You guys are always awesome!
dbocce3Michael,
Have you found the hotfix for slow transfer speeds? I am having HORRIBLY slow transfer speeds. I’m talking less than 1MB per second!
John
dbocce3Mike and phoneguy,
I am not using it with any apps right now. It is simply easier for my wife to have those folders on the desktop of each laptop so that she can access those files quickly. This is why I am trying to get them to the desktop.
John
dbocce3Mike, THank you for your quick replay and advice. I ended up opening the Launchpad, clicking shared folders, then right clicking each shared folder (music, pictures, etc..) and clicked ‘create shortcut’. It created a shortcut on the desktop and I think everything is working.
Should I map the drive instead? Will that speed up file transfers? (again, the clients are connected to the router wirelessly and the server is wired to the router). Are there any benefits to mapping the drive versus what I did? Lastly, if I map the drive, will it matter what drive letter I give it? Will the driver letter I give it change the driver letter on the server?
Thank you again for your help!

I’m confused. What do you mean by SageTV being gone?
[/quote]
I mean it is no longer for sale.
dbocce3Thanks but that could take at least a year.
Has anyone ever heard of Popbox? http://www.popbox.com/onlinestore/index.php
dbocce3I was even thinking of using WDTV Plus and using the hack but the GUI doesn’t seem wife friendly.
dbocce3Thanks for replying Aaron.
I was thinking of using a nettop or a Revo like device. I think those are about $200.
dbocce3Could you point me in the direction of the WHS transcoding options?
