I have one brand new in the box that I never used. I will sell it for $75 shipped USPS priority mail.
GanjagadgetI have been using tha Favi keyboard/remote for over a year and it has been great. It has th ctrl-alt-del and windows buttons. The iPaz seems slick because of the learning remote but I have a harmony for non keyboard activities.

GanjagadgetYes. Thanks Aaron. To elaborate there will also be a standalone media hub/DVR called the Ceton Q based on MCE that could replace Or negate the need for a HTPC. It will use MCE Embeded and offer additional functionality over a standard WIN7 HTPC. Check here for beta info and a link to a video intro:

GanjagadgetAdd this to any MCE remote:
GanjagadgetI use mediabrowser for my collection management. You should also look at the AutoRip n’ Compress MCE plugin. name kinda says it all.

GanjagadgetI would go Samsung. She can plug the USB drive in and be done for the most part. You could do DLNA by setting up Serviio on the laptop so she doesn’t have to “sneaker net” the HDD when she gets new content. The Samsung AllShare PC software is OK but doesn’t do a good job with MKV files.
GanjagadgetThere is post on here to check if FIOS flag Amy content as “copy once” in your area. Of that is the case xbox I your only windows extender option. From what I have read FIOS rarely flags anything but “copy freely” If that is your case then you can use any windows box with MCE to watch shows you record.
GanjagadgetGo with FreeNAS.

GanjagadgetAnother question would be how does your provider deal with CableCards? I was shocked to find that Comcrap gives me a “free” M-card but requires a $8.00 “Digital Cable Outlet” fee. Stupid thing is that this is regional within Comcrap. Reading around some people have had success saying that they are using the card in a Tv that has a cable box to get picture in picture so it is on the same “outlet” to get the fee waived.
GanjagadgetUnless I am missing something, sounds like Windows Media Center and Xbox 360’s would fit the bill. You just need to pick one of many transcoding options for WHS.
GanjagadgetIt took less than 15 minutes and was really easy. It would have been flawless except the new system had a card reader that threw off the drive letter assignments. So be warned that you need to have the exact same drive configuration on the new system or there will be little extra work to remap some stuff.
GanjagadgetI would research your prices instead of trusting newegg to have the best deals. Check out http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/computer/ to save some $$$ and buy a SSD.
