I have no experience with either product. If you plan on streaming Blu-ray, Wireless-N is a must and even then, I’m not sure you’ll get the best result.
What exactly is it that you need the HP ProCurve to do for you? It looks like a great switch and obviously geared toward advanced use cases when management capabilities are needed.
I’m not wifi’ing bluray, just got that for the tablet.
I bought the hp curve because I’ve bought every piece of hardware and/or software available for my HTPC and server ….changed every network cable and … I still have bluray stuttering. Core i7 2600K, 16gb mem, ssd, tmt5, you name it. WHS is core i5 8 gb , gig network. Last thing left to replace is the switch.

Definitely a price mistake. Look for the cancellation e-mail!
Same price or close on a couple other websites. Must be a mistake from highpoint in the marketing details.
They have already charged my card and “the cables” are ready to ship.
Just looking on the bright side, but you are probably right
1. Why would I pay software maintenance the first when year the software is being setup with very few concurrent users …. is this normal practice? Or can I negotiate?
Industry specific software companies tend to include maintenance for the first year of support on their software package. But keep in mind that the support will be limited to the modules purchased originally. Not all components are subject to negotiation.

2. What is a fair rate for consulting services for programming, setup and customization for our implementation on site? I know this negotiable, but I would like to know a fair rate, for them and us. The average going rate?
When purchasing an “off the shelf” product, from an industry specific software company, you will be subject to their consulting and programming fee for customized needs. You have to remember that the product is developed to serve a specific need and any custom work will be out of scope and would have to be tested to comply with their product and not cause any downtime. Remember, the product works fine without customization.
3. Maintenance is 18%, that seems fair, i guess?
Annual maintenance fees DO NOT decrease on a year to year basis, it will continue to rise. It is to your best interest to ask the software company for a set annual cost, for the maintenance, at the beginning of the purchase. This is best practice since it will be quoted at current rates.
4. Does the company want our maintenance or the original software purchase? I know both, but how negotiable is the initial purchase?
Both. It is best practice to establish an annual cost, for the maintenance fee, at the time of purchase. Maintenance is something you will continue to renew on the product.

5. I need to hire a SQL/Crystal Repots programming in the Southwest (of America) what’s the going rate for our region?
My suggestion would be to look at some job posting sites for your region and take it from there. It is all dependent on the region, job specifics and skill sets.
Although parts of a quote are negotiable, keep an open mind that you will be limited. Since you would request some customized work. I definitely DO NOT recommend to hire an independent programmer to work on a industry specific product.
P.S. I would be more than happy to help with any hardware related questions also.

Sorry I haven’t relied sooner, been wild around here. Thanks to all of your for your replies.
I’ll review all more in depth, gather all the thoughts and get back with some additional questions.
Thanks Again

well that’s the problem, i don’t have any box it’ll fit…so what do i do?
Put it on the stand. Wrap it in packing/moving blankets. Put it between 2 boxes as big/bigger than the TV. Put some other boxes between the big boxes so they don’t move against the TV and fill the voids with more blankets. Strap the two big boxes in good. You’ll be fine …. barring, we’ll …. bad road mishaps.

Has nothing to do with your “sleep state settings”, it just all of your CE deivces talkin’ to another for the shake.
It just takes the TV EDID, Receiver EDID and I think HTPC EDID and puts them all in one EDID file so they know each other
Jeff
Glitchymoninfo.exe
don’t claim to understand it all, but after stumbling around in the program, I got my onkyo, samsung and HTPC all talkin’ to each other and they “seem” to still know whats up even after a full bare metal reinstall of my HTPC.
It just combines the EDID info of all your devices into one file.
A free program

Glitchy(Short version/rehash of my spam filter post)
Already using VC I/O buffering.
No changes to NIC Properties.
Recently trying to fix stuttering, I made a changes to the Registry setting under network throttling and gave playback an “8” priority.
But stuttering before that.
The only constant 7 ea 2TB EARS drives and the SWITCH. (The 1.5 TB EARS drives with DVD, Music and data do fine, but I realize, lots less data)
Jeff
GlitchyMy last post went to spam filter, I’ll wait and see if it shows! 2nd one today! Must be because I changed my user name and started a new account

What Intel drivers are you using? Make sure you have latest from Intel, not Windows Update. And when installing on your HTPC, if you have extenders make sure to uncheck “Advanced Networking Services”.
Are you playing back from BDMV or ISO?
All BDs ISOs. All drivers are from intel site (unless MS update sneaked one past me).
I have extenders, where is the “Advanced Networking Services”, in the NIC setup, under advanced properties? (I’ll go looking). It’s never worked with any driver, but I update intel drivers about every 4-8 weeks on both machines.

Was there stuttering of Blu-ray stream during this time period?
Did you cease blu-ray playback before taking the screen capture on the server? I ask because disk and network usage fall off about halfway through the graph.
Same movie, same seesion/play of movie
2nd set of shots
HTPC
Server

Would think I’m doing okay?
And this is with a HD channel playing on the extender and one recording (same channel, ceton)

Glitchy
Before you think about replacing your switch, you should hook your server directly to your HTPC and see if the problem still occurs.
Have you tried monitoring performance activity on the server while play back ensues?
No haven’t tried those options, will try to get to it today. Would I need a crossover cable for a direct connect? Networking is my weakest link (no pun intended! Well maybe a little!)
Thanks,
Jeff

Is the stuttering intermittent or always present on Blu-ray playback?
Spec-wise, that switch is pretty decent. Some of the smaller consumer-grade switches only have in the neighborhood of 100-150kb per port memory.
Do you have multiple reads and/or writes hitting the EARS drive at the same time?
stuttering is intermittent (sometimes it “seems” to get worse the longer into the movie I get).
Do you have multiple reads and/or writes hitting the EARS drive at the same time? No one movie at a time on HTPC and no ripping, or other hitting the drives. No drive balancing with DriveBender, so ………. just the movie while playing!
No ShowAnalyzer right now on HTPC or Server.
