I’m guessing that with devices like the Kinect that it is only a matter of time before that same tech can be shrunk to fit into a phone or monitor.

I use D-Link hardware only. The NICs are all realtek I believe because I think that is the only brand Gigabyte uses. I’ll have to check the drivers and see if they have updates.
All my recordings are in original format and recorded at best. A 1 hour recording is almost as big as some full length BluRay movies.
Codecs are all the standard MC7 codecs as far as I know unless VLC over wrote them.
I’ll be working on removing daisy chained switches this winter and running 3 cat6 lines to each jack for a direct route to my big switch.

I went straight to the conclusion and it looks pretty decent. My biggest problem is with the MS joystick on my keyboard. But if that guy was able to race with it then it must work OK. I’ll have to keep an eye on Fry’s to see if they carry it. I like to try before I buy at a local store.

September 27, 2010 at 1:47 pm in reply to: Re: MC7 Recordings are stopping early when shows are back to bac #1177Well the solution which I can’t test until tonight is to set the recordings to stop recording ten minutes after the show finishes. Lucky for me I have 4 tuners, but this sucks for those with two or less tuners.

I have this problem at the MSDN forums all the time and I just got myself in the habit of hitting Ctrl+A or Ctrl+SHIFT+HOME and then CTRL+C before I click the post button.

I think we are a couple years away from the battery tech to pull that off. Although I guess if you are using the projectors that you would have the unit docked in a charging station.
I want to see a touch screen PC with that projector keyboard built in.I am still lovin my EVO. I find a useful app for it at least once a week. It won’t bake the bread but it has several recipe apps that will show me how.

September 24, 2010 at 8:25 pm in reply to: Re: MC7 Recordings are stopping early when shows are back to bac #1175Well I found the same problem at TGB. After tinkering with my PC I found this:
Seeing as I am trying to solve this problem via remote desktop I notice my MC7 machine was 4 minutes off from what my work machine was. So I went into the settings and changed it to sync with time.windows instead of time.nist.gov server. Some guy who is always late to work must be messing with the time setting at the office.
Hopefully that fixes it so I don’t have to go to every episode and change the stop time to ten minutes.

September 20, 2010 at 2:17 pm in reply to: Re: Niveus Media Discontinues Consumer High End Media Center PC #1119It is going to be hard to make software IMO when the media center interface gives me everything I need from an HTPC, watch and record tv and access Netflix. As far as a remote goes the free android app GMote allows me to control the mouse and type. I am sure those types of apps will improve and won’t have the high price tag that the vendors will ask for their implementation.
