Mike GarcenParticipant
Your keyboard shortcuts gave me an idea. Can’t you run a script with Girder that will issue the exact commands you need with delays (Boxee’s order doesn’t change, right?). I haven’t used it in years…
Mike GarcenParticipantuse keyword recording instead of the series. I’m not sure why it’s not there to record as a series, but like if you just put NBA Basketball as the keyword to record, then it should record everything. The problem with this, is you might get some recorded shows you weren’t intending.
Mike GarcenParticipantthe problem is, how do you pull the content? There’s no public API or developer information for other websites to pull into, and there’s not even a basic RSS feed for each program. So maybe some clever developer could figure out a way to screen scrape and parse the information out…but i don’t think it’d be easy. But i’m not a developer either…would love to hear what others thoughts are
Mike GarcenParticipantunfortunately there is no native MCE application to support the ESPN3 video offerings (although frustratingly there’s a really slick one for the XBOX360). So what i’ve resorted to doing, is just using my DiNovo Mini and just pulling it up on my browser as its home page. Far from ideal, but i doubt MS is going to do anything about it
Mike GarcenParticipantThe reason you see mentions of XBox 360 is because it has built-in the ability to be a Windows Media Center Extender. The PS3 is NOT an extender, so you won’t be able to do this.
However, there are several PS3 applications that will allow you to access video files, if you want to go through the effort of recording shows and then converting them to PS3-compatible filetypes.
Mike GarcenParticipantwe definitely plan to bring the submit news button back, just a matter of priorities and time. But i’ll bump this to the front page 🙂
thanks!
Mike GarcenParticipantman that’s bizarre. Sorry for not having a definitive answer, but that’s weird.
Something you could try–disable one of the tuners in Device Manager, then go back to MCE, reconfigure the TV Signal, then test. If it happens again, try with the other tuner. Ideally you’d be able to physically remove one of the tuners from the system to do this test, but if not disabling in DM should be good start.
But man this is funky. I doubt copy protection has anything to do with this.
Mike GarcenParticipant*sigh* Well, damn….you’re right i’m wrong. This is not the VT25. Well, that makes me feel a bit better 🙂
Mike GarcenParticipanthow’s the signal strength on that channel compared to others? (you can go to Settings > TV > Check signal strength) i think
Mike GarcenParticipantare you sure the tuner you’re using is the same one that records? how many/what kind of tuner?
Mike GarcenParticipantthat’s actually a great idea…i’m not sure how we’d do it. I’ll talk to Mikinho and see if there’s a way, maybe if we can parse spaces…but since everyone entered their shows differently it may be challenging…but definitely we’ll look into it. Great idea!
Mike GarcenParticipanteffing awesome opener. Kudos to the writers of this show, given how unplanned this was i think they’ve done a great job. We already have such attachment to all these characters, it was very clever to bring them all back in a different time and see how they evolved.
Mike GarcenParticipantIf you are using Windows7 Media Center, then there is no need for you to use VLC assuming you have the proper codecs on the system.
Then you can just go to Library Setup in Media Center (you can literally 100% bypass Windows Media PLAYER) and then add the network folders you have, and then they will show up in your “VIDEOS” section in Media Center, then click it and you should play.
Depending on what your files are, like if they’re movies, then in the future you may wish to consider a Movie Manager like one of these: http://www.missingremote.com/review/battle-media-center-movie-managers
Mike GarcenParticipantWell I feel like an idiot. So i was looking closer at some of the higher root folders and i noticed the odd sync icon (which i swear i never enabled it), and what do you know, my Win7 system had Photos and Videos set to be auto-sync and available off-line.
Turned that off, and VOILA!
Mike GarcenParticipantyes, it’s the “Videos” browser within Win7MC that’s having the issue. I just tested and it looks like they’re showing up in Windows Explorer as well. Unfortunately only a few of the orphan files are showing up in WMP, and deleting them does nothing. When i try to delete from Windows Explorer, i got Error 0x800710FE: Cannot find the specified file or folder.
The video folders were stored on a network drive FWIW.
