Mike GarcenParticipant
Newegg has a couple of great Corsair PSU’s for decent prices after MIR.
And fry’s has an Antec 750 Earthwatts for $35 after MIR, pretty sweet deal
Anyone buy one fo those $200 LCD 32″ tv’s?? Very curious how those are.
Mike GarcenParticipantAre you running Memtest86 on those dimms or just the standard Windows recovery memory test? I’d recommend it just to make sure your RAM is OK.
Sounds like a worthwhile upgrade though 🙂
Mike GarcenParticipantFair comments, and let’s be fair, it’s always tough to have change. The old site was our home with the same look and color for 5 years! That’s an awful long time to just instantly adjust in 1 week.
But hang in there, we’ll be making tweaks and modifications to the design of the site over the next few weeks (remember that whole “real job” stuff, booo!) that hopefully will make everyone happier.
Just a reminder, pass along any and all feedback/requests/bugs over at the Site Issues Forum Post
Just because you see something changed or missing, doesn’t mean we did it on purpose 🙂 so no comment is a bad one 🙂
Mike GarcenParticipanthttp://bfads.net/ is definitely the best out there, but tons of info.
So far, the best deal i see is at Wal-mart, early bird deal, a 32″ LCD for $198

LMAO! I love the way the site automated the title of your reply. Almost makes it look like a diss.
BTW, I have nothing against ads on any site I visit regularly and I intentionally do not block them because of the minimal revenue that comes from it. However, if a site is showing me ads I find offensive, intrusive, or annoying, I definitely let them know. Intellitext is one of those really annoying ads I block universally.

lol, maybe i should learn to use that Subject line eh? 😛
Mike GarcenParticipantThanks for the feedback. Not sure a “page of ads” would work to be honest. Maybe in time we’ll be able to setup a subscription model like ArsTechnica, where we can have members for a small fee not see ads, but honestly we’re not close to there yet. Without ads the site wouldn’t exist unfortunately.
Btw, FWIW the ad relevancy should improve over time as well. We’re looking for ways to hopefully make them useful and unintrusive as much as possible.
Keep the feedback coming though! We are working on the “too much” white 🙂
Mike GarcenParticipant
I also miss the “mark all as read”. Since I rely so heavily on the “new posts since last visit” type of functionality, when there were a few threads I didn’t want to read I’d just clear them out so that my new posts since last visit would more accurately reflect what I actually intended to read next time I came back.
good point. will add that to the list
Mike GarcenParticipantin case you didn’t notice, we’re back live! 🙂
Mike GarcenParticipantno way to insert pictures on our server yet, bu tyou can hyperlink images. we’ll add this to our list.
Mike GarcenParticipantSO i’m not sure how big an audiophile you are, but since it’s the bedroom, and you mentioned the importance of being able to play audio withOUT the TV on, here’s my thoughts:
1) Get a SFF (i was going to say a netbook, but not sure what video formats you’re trying for), since their power consumption is super low anyways
2) Get a set of Computer speakers–I’m still a fan of the Klipsch THX ProMedia’s which can be had for around $200, and Logitech makes some great PC speakers as well
3) This way, you can play audio directly from the SFF and then turn the tv off. And if you demand more, you can always use a smartphone or iphone to control it to skip through songs as wellYou could do all the above for less than $500, again all depends what else you’re planning on playing through the PC. Less needs = lower specs = lower cost.
Mike GarcenParticipant
I was really hoping to read Andrew’s Guide to Installing SageTV V7 again – http://www.missingremote.com/news/2010-11-12/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5211&Itemid=232
link just dumps me back to the main page 🙁
I skimmed through before upgrading, but was hoping to look at it again – especially regarding configuring the web interface.
We definitely are aware of the broken old backlinks, and will work over time to fix them. In the meantime, you can still see this particular guide on the “Featured Guides” on the right hand side – http://www.missingremote.com/guide/installing-sagetv-v7-0
i only use my xbox as an extender on football sundays (i should take a picture, u guys would laugh). but then again, i barely game (madden 2011 is it)…so MCX still outweighs it

i can’t imagine a worst trailer recently than Robin Hood (Russel Crowe version)….literally 50% of the trailer was from the last 5 minutes of the movie. It was awful anyways.
Red looks fun, i’m sure i’ll like it
