Mike GarcenParticipant
not sure i’m following…why would you want to do this at all?
Mike GarcenParticipantoh my goodness….must…resist..the urge!! can someone hack this thing already?!
Mike GarcenParticipanti use shark as much as Andrew hates me for saying so, primarily because of it’s x64 version of VOBSub (for subtitles) which you can’t find standalone. I haven’t tinkered much with the settings since building my new HTPC
Mike GarcenParticipantupdated! thx!
Mike GarcenParticipantPretty sure the Intel FW issues were fixed right away (and also from what I heard they were such an isolated issue but blown out of proportion). I preface saying that because I’ve used G1 and G2 SSD’s from Intel for over 2 years now, non-stop in both laptop and HTPC environments, and I’ve never had a single issue.
And the speed is AH-mazing 🙂
Mike GarcenParticipantLOL, pretty funny. I stopped 2 minutes in though…
Mike GarcenParticipantwhat a shame. It was Spartacus (Starz) which really had me pumping up Netflix to all my friends. Although I’m not surprised given that Starz made no secret that they admitted to way undercharging Netflix in their first agreement.
Mike GarcenParticipantno speed benefit at all. i only like mapping my server folders which i frequently access to save me some time.
but phoneguy is right, if you’re using it with apps (like mymovies) then it’s unnecessary
Mike GarcenParticipantthis is where the original WHS was better. What you need is user accounts setup with permissions, or to login as the administrator on each site.
So go to one of your client computers, launch windows explorer and type \SERVERNAME
Then you should be prompted for your user/password if the one on that system doesn’t match one of the ones on the WHS2011
then you can map the network drive to save the hassle in the future
Mike GarcenParticipantTake a look at the Habey. I reviewed the non-ODD version, but they do make one with a drive that’s a cheap enough investment that you could play with it. Worth a look maybe?
Mike GarcenParticipanti’ve used it exclusively for the past 2 seasons and it’s more than watchable. But i’m mainly referring to watching a single channel. if you split the window, the quality degrades. Also, if you split the screen, then you can’t be “full screen” any more, so the windows for the games were smaller.
So…summary: For 1 game, i’d say as good as netflix. for 4 games at a time, pretty bad.
Mike GarcenParticipantHere’s the direct link from Amazon
Interesting…seems like a smoking deal if it goes through
Mike GarcenParticipanti watched every episode of both, and was a huge fan. As with any drama the characters are usually as focused and detailed as the story line itself. Boardwalk is set in a completely different time, with a different angle as far as it’s “mob” relationships versus sopranos. I think Sopranos was much more violent, but that was so long ago it’s tough to remember–it’s not like spartacus 🙂
I think if you like Boardwalk you would like Sopranos, except for the finale which sucked.
Personally i liked Sopranos better than Boardwalk if only because James Gandolfini is SO GREAT in his role as the boss.
Mike GarcenParticipantNothing wrong with the Revo. In fact, we’re in teh process of working on getting a review unit soon.
That being said, you make a few compromises when you go with such a SFF system, such as upgrades and expandability. As long as you’re fine with that, they’re an easy way to get up and running fast. Although not as fun as DIY 😉
Mike GarcenParticipantok…so new idea, i’m gonna try to find 2 big enough foam/styrofoam that i can prop the tv up off the ground, wrap it in a moving blanket and bubble wrap, push it against the boxspring, then surround it by big boxes so it doesn’t move around. so basically it’s gonna be floating.
good??
