mikinhoParticipant
You can get Copy Freely channels, just not protected content. This may or may not be useful depending on your cable provider and market.
You can setup network bridging in Linux using bridge-start but it isn’t officially supported and I can’t comment on the reliability as I haven’t done it myself.
In terms of Windows VM usage and bridging my biggest recommendation is use Intel network cards, just not the Intel PRO/1000 GT (a horrible, unsupported network card).
There are a couple issues with Network Bridging, most have to do with network card drivers not implementing all the interfaces needed for proper bridging.
mikinhoParticipantYou can also take a look at our Linux drivers: http://cetoncorp.com/infinitv_support/linux-drivers/
mikinhoParticipantWhat DNS servers are you using? If you are using OpenDNS…don’t or temporarily use local ISP DNS servers.
mikinhoParticipantGo to Media Center > Settings > General > Automatic Download Options > Download Now. When complete you’ll need to restart Media Center
mikinhoParticipantIt has been requested a few times and the general conscience (right or wrong) is to not delete anything. Let Media Center handle deleting recordings when space is tight and is needed.
I still delete items but generally only in bulk when I decide a series isn’t worth watching or a show I don’t want my kids to watch.
mikinhoParticipantLike Mike said, it is gone. WMC doesn’t use the Recycle Bin for deletions (most apps don’t).
You can try Recurva. I’ve used it int he past with success for important documents I deleted.
mikinhoParticipantMy current video card can actually do 2x 2560×1600 & 1x 1920×1080 but moot point as I can’t afford any more monitors 🙂
mikinhoParticipantI wanted something powered from a single machine. Finding a single card that did 3 outputs at 2560×1600 wasn’t possible (at least ~6 months ago). I’m able to do 1920×1080, 2560×1600, 1080×1920 (portrait) well though.
mikinhoParticipantbtw… I also love my U3011. If you ever need some side monitors for it I can recommend a few that blend nicely with it.
mikinhoParticipantI’ve had some discussions on this and the technically not a bug. DisplayPort isn’t approved for usage (dumb). And the bug with the 2nd is that it works at all.
I do have a Connect request to get DisplayPort working in W8 FWIW. And I think it will go through, especially since it affects laptopstablets frequently and the push for tablets in W8.
mikinhoParticipantSadly it is a limitation of Microsoft Windows 7 Media Center. Even though DisplayPort 1.1 and 1.2 are technically capable of HDCP and your graphic card and display support it, Windows 7 Media Center does not. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2392252 for more information.
If it is Copy-Freely content you can restore and then maximize Windows Media Center and it will play but not Copy-Once or higher.
mikinhoParticipantSounds like you don’t have your TV type setup properly in Media Center. Have you tried both CRT and Flat Panel? Aaron has a post about it here somewhere.
mikinhoParticipantGlad to hear it fixed your issues–very odd that the other 5450 isn’t working but who knows how long it would have taken to troubleshoot what was different and why.
mikinhoParticipantIf feasible I would first take both your systems and see how they do on the other TV set to see if the behavior is the same between the TVs. If so, I would pickup a GT430. You can find them relatively cheap that I think your time is better purchasing a new card versus troubleshooting and dealing with AMD driver mayhem.
mikinhoParticipantFor some background on the issue see http://www.cetoncorp.com/support/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/20/3/hbo-and-other-channels-rapid-framerate-changing—stuttering
Basically it is an incompatibility issue between Media Center’s decoder and the channels MPEG steam encoder. The incompatibility in Windows Media Center is when it receives video which does not properly indicate its framerate.
JohnW248 knows more about the issue than anyone should have to so hopefully he will chime in but in my experience ATIAMD handles it very poor and NVIDIA tends to handle it the best.
