I like Forefront, it is very similar to Microsoft Security Essentials (it shares the same code base…or at least did).
When you download Forefront there are a few options, you want Forefront Client Security. On that ISO there is a CLIENT folder. From an administrative command prompt go to the folder and run clientsetup.exe /nomom. It doesn’t look to do anything but it is installing in the background.
mikinhoParticipantIt can be installed stand-alone. Just use the /nomom switch when installing from an administrative command prompt. i.e. “clientsetup.exe /NOMOM“
Also, with Forefront make sure to enable Microsoft Updates and not just Windows Updates to receive definition updates.
mikinhoParticipantIt varies per product. It used to be that every product received the lifetime, now it is limited to certain models. For instance on the GTX 570 HD, only the AR comes with the lifetime.
mikinhoParticipantBtw, If you (or anyone else) gets the EVGA card. Mark sure to register the product with EVGA. They have a great trade up program and several tools available for benchmarking that go on special.
mikinhoParticipantThat is a great price. I have the exact card and have been very happy with it. For those concerned w/ the fan, it shuts off when not needed which with normal HTPC usage is not very often.

I have Kylo, but won’t the remote function more like a mouse through Kylo?
[/quote]
Kylo isn’t remote friendly. It is designed for “air” mouses like their The Ring and the GlideTV
mikinhoParticipantI’ve got a plug-in that launches their site w/ IE. It is remote friendly. I’ll dig it up. I had e-mailed them asking permission to use their logo for it and never heard back so put it off to the side.
mikinhoParticipantFor a HTPC I think 60GB64GB is the sweet spot. Anything smaller and at some point you’ll either have to sacrifice caching (page file, %ProgramData%, etc.) or do regular maintenance,
For a primary workstation I need 128GB or higher though. Development kits and IDEs are huge. With the bare minimal I need for work it is close to 52GB full and with a 60GB that just doesn’t give enough head room for Service Packs.
mikinhoParticipantEven when all your components support HDCP it is easy for a “pirate” to remove with hardware like the HDFury. You’ll need to physically secure the connections along with HDCP.

I bookmarked an Ask Slashdot discussion on this topic a couple years ago.
At work we have Steelcase Leap chairs. They are very nice, but not much cheaper than the Aerons.

Thanks! That is very useful! I’m still on the fence but good to see so many people who agree that there is a considerable improvement in fatigue and reduction in back-strain with the higher quality chairs.

Mike,
Can you run a test to determine if the router is the cause of your issue? Just plug your PC and WHS into a dumb switch or direct connect (with crossover if needed). Turn IPv6 back on and see what happens.

Not important to this conversation but cross-over isn’t needed. 1000BASE-T standard (aka IEEE 802.3ab) requires Auto-MDIX so all Gigabit Ethernet network cards will auto detect and use the cable accordingly.
mikinhoParticipantI hadn’t thought of that. There are a couple available on my local craigslist. Thanks for the suggestion. I don’t like the idea of spending a lot but I’ve sat in an Aeron and sadly for the amount I sit in a chair I’m willing to spend a little extra right now.
mikinhoParticipantFixed for Firefox/Gecko and Chrome/WebKit based browsers. I’ll add for IE later.
mikinhoParticipantI went this morning and sold out of the CPU already 🙁
I wasn’t very interested in the H61 motherboard but if it is “free” with the CPU I wanted it…

Long live TRB, thanks to the MR crew.

Our forums need quite a bit of work as well but we are working on it and should be improved very soon (for the better….just making things easier)
