There is a software that allows you to utilize QuickSync in conjuction with a discrete GPU, see Lucidlogix Virtu. It still has a few bugs to work out but overall it is very impressive. You can setup profiles for what programs you want to use QuickSync versus CUDA, OpenCL, Stream, etc.
mikinhoParticipantI’ve got 1 of each at the moment if you are interested in any metrics or comparision. The 2100K, 2100S and 2600K. I would have liked to get the 2600S but I couldn’t justify the cost.
mikinhoParticipantNot hard at all. Do you have VS installed? If so, what version? If not, I can make an installer w/o it for you just using WiX.
mikinhoParticipantThere are some good devices for HDMI conversion such as the HDFURY but depending on the quality of your current receiver the money may be better spent on an new AVR.
mikinhoParticipantI still have my original C64 so I had to promote to the front page.
mikinhoParticipantCan you describe the lag? I don’t have any.
Below are some general settings to set to help prevent unnecessary delays.
1- Disable “Automatically detect settings” in IE proxy configuration
Many applications, including Netflix, will check IE proxy configuration and leaving the default auto detect setting enable can cause a delay.
2- If you internet provider performs DNS Hijacking by violating the RFC standard for DNS (NXDOMAIN) responses then opt-out or change to a 3rd party DNS server such as Google Public DNS.
Comcast, Time Warner, Cox, Rogers, etc, all use DNS hijacking and enable the “service” by default. Same thing with OpenDNS, they do the same crap. You can disable it in OpenDNS as well but then you lose other features. Opt-out! I actually do both, 1- opt-out in a small effort to show via numbers that the service is crap, and 2- use Google Public DNS.
Depending on the technology used by a CDN (GeoDNS, Anycast, Black Magic, Voodoo) uses Google Public DNS or any other shared public provider may be a bad idea as well. Typically a CDN’s authoritative DNS hosting will feed recursive (non-autoritative) DNS services (i.e. Google Public DNS, OpenDNS, etc) with different IP address information according to the GeoIP location of the recursive DNS server. So as a user you’ll get an IP address of the Netflix server closest to the DNS server instead of your geographic location. This could be none issue but other times could lead to a high latency.
mikinhoParticipantGlad I could help!
mikinhoParticipantSee the below for the explanation.
This will enable a more efficient scaling path in the AV pipeline. On some GPUs it may result in a sharper image, on some it may get funky:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREDebugehPresenter.dll]
“BoundByNativeSize”=dword:0This will set your nominal range to video levels, the current defualt for MCE. Use with properly calibrated consumer displays and projectors. IE: devices set for 7.5IRE blacks.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREDebugehPresenter.dll]
“NominalRange”=dword:2This will set your nominal rante to 0-255 (PC levels) essentially doing “expanded blacks” use this with a typical PC monitor calibrated for blacks==0.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREDebugehPresenter.dll]
“NominalRange”=dword:1They were provided by Ian Kennedy – Microsoft via http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/p/59322/276662.aspx#276662
mikinhoParticipantIf you don’t have it set already, try the below registry key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREDebugehPresenter.dll]
“NominalRange”=dword:1
mikinhoParticipantPublished to home page. Thanks for sharing.
mikinhoParticipantI don’t think we will get an update until they are certified by CableLabs
mikinhoParticipantNo it would still not work. Sorry, I used Domain in the DRM context.
mikinhoParticipantThere sadly is not. The DRM supports domains but it is not used in this implementation.
mikinhoParticipantThe best answer I can give is “Maybe”. It fixes certain HDMI handshake issues but certainly not all of them.
mikinhoParticipantSorry I missed your last response!
I would honestly wait a few more days and install W7 SP1 to see if that clears it up. SP1 includes a few fixes w/ audio over HDMI.
