Bridge the Ceton network adapter + your normal network and then try going to 192.168.1.75
mikinhoParticipantSize concerns only. I also don’t feel hibernation adds to the CE experience for a HTPC.
mikinhoParticipant30GB is fairly small so I would recommend a couple things:
1- Disable Recycle Bin for that drive (see Beginners Guide HTPC Basics)
2- Disable Hibernation
powercfg –h off
3- Install W7 SP1. It requires 16GB of free space and you most likely will never have 16GB of free space after using the system.
Note: If you are are a Media Center user you will need to setup and get NetflixInternetTV installed prior to SP1. One of the later updates prevents it from installing.
4- Reduce your pagefile. Solid state drivers are great for paging files but you aren’t going to have much room so I recommend setting up a static size versus letting Windows configure it (I actually do this on all my systems regardless)
5- Turn off System Restore
6- Turn off Offline Files
Past that I would not move other cache files. At least not initially. See how much space you have after a month of normal usage. You can adjust then as needed. I see a lot of people move cache files (i.e. %ProgramData% folders, %AppData%, etc) but then you really are limiting the potential usefulness of your SSD.
mikinhoParticipantIt is possible. The DRM folder cache is
%ProgramData%MicrosoftWindowsDRM
If you delete it and reboot it shoudl reset WMP12 licenses. You should first check what format they are and see if they play in WMP12 first.
mikinhoParticipantKeep us updated on what format and I can help troubleshootfix from there.
mikinhoParticipantCan you provide the below?
1- How you have the HTPC connected? Is it via HDMI, TOSLINK, Analog, etc
2- Are you connected to an AVR or directly to the HDTV
3- You have Intel MEI installed? (See Intel MEI is needed for bitstreaming HD Audio with H55H57 chipsets)
4- What format did you rip the music to? If WMA then you may have an issue with your DRM license. Let me know me and I can provide instructions to reset your DRM cache.
mikinhoParticipantSee http://exdeus.home.comcast.net/~exdeus/WMCRecordingStoragePooler/
After that setup your Recorded TV library to monitor each location so you see them all.
mikinhoParticipantI’m on a 3-4 year old LCD so I pretty much dislike everyone above me on this thread.
mikinhoParticipantBtw, if you did install the beta or RC. You will need to uninstall prior to installing RTM. There is a work-around but I really don’t recommend that.
mikinhoParticipantWhen the contest finishes next week I can do that.
mikinhoParticipantYes, hit OK
mikinhoParticipantIt was released to certain testers and partners only. Some versions leaked but I don’t recommend installing them yet.
mikinhoParticipantYou do NOT want to use an SSD for a recording drive unless it doesn’t get much usage.
See http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1233/1/. Even at 256GB drivers ~42GB/day isn’t a lot for a primary DVR.
mikinhoParticipantThe RTM SP1 version for x64 is done, just waiting for 32-bit. I don’t have a copy of the 32-bit SP1 yet.
mikinhoParticipantOpen WMP and go to the Library tab. Look in either Videos or Other media for the orphaned object.
I wrote a utility to clean that up but I haven’t used it in years if you want to give it a go.
