The HQV-HD scores aren’t looking that great, so it might be worth waiting a couple drivers to see if they can clear that up.
Well I won’t be buying a new TV anytime soon sadly. But it is a good point. I’m sure the drivers will fix the issues, I believe the G 210 had the problem. Waiting is good, as you’e previously pointed out in other posts now isn’t the best time to invest into HTPCs with 3DTV capabilities.
Once AMD releases their 6xxx series and Intel comes out w/ Sandy Bridge it will be interesting to see which is the preferred HTPC 3DTV platform.

Wait a sec, this isn’t the first card to do this from Nvidia, that would have been the GTX 460. This card, however, is a better physical fit for an HTPC.
That is why I said “first HTPC-centric consumer”. The GTX 460 and 450 already offer it but neither is very HTPC friendly w/ the higher power consumption, two-slot form factor and neither is available as low-profile. The GT 420 also offers it but it is an OEM only card.

newfiend over @ tgb linked to a review of the GT 430: http://www.legitreviews.com/news/9145/. Everything seems to be what you’d expect and they confirm that the card is quiet.

Well speaking from my own experience w/ EVGA cards they are very quiet. The fan looks to be a similar model that they use on their G 210, GT220 and GT240. The firmware is set to only turn the fan on when needed, in typical HTPC usage that is never.

You are taking almost as long to finish Part II as Ceton is getting more cards out. I’m just messing with you man, someone had to say it. 😀
And sadly well deserved.
The next batch of cards were sent out yesterday. Hmmmm…I need to get my act together.

The negative side is that the updated specification only applies to new or updated firmwares needing certification.
In terms of cable companies actually deploying them…well that is anyway’s guess. I suggest everyone “accidentally” break their TAs to force them to purchase newupdated equipment =)
(Disclaimer: I don’t actually suggest breaking anything)

From the Engineering Change Form is appears TiVo was the driving force. I really should have covered TiVo’s involvement–I apologize.
I may follow up with some speculation on what is coming from TiVo but I’ll keep that separate =)

erkotz (Missing Remote and tgb member) was kind enough inform me that an updated firmware for the Motorola TAs were released that enable 6-streams per TA.
He also provided a link to the updated specifications. I’ve updated the article with both pieces of information. Thanks erkotz.
