While that’s true – the problem is that the stated goals are bizarre given product timing that they should have known about. I don’t think it’s possible for them to have picked a worse time to build that box; had they waited a month (or two) significantly cheaper/better hardware would have been available as well as nVidia’s HDMI 1.4 driver. Anyone who follows their guidance to achieve similar objectives and doesn’t do some homework will be completely screwed.
Very good point.

Yeah, they didn’t need the sound card
One one of the pre-reqs was 3D HDTV and HD Audio bitstreaming so a discrete sound card was needed since the NVIDIA 4xx series weren’t available at the time of the article.

The worst HTPC builds are the Atom/ION builds. At least when these guys are done they can play Hulu. Those guys that build ION systems can’t even play all the videos they throw at the ION systems.
We’ll have a review next month that will disagree on that. The AtomION builds can be a great HTPC if done right assuming you aren’t a big add-inextra software user. For a long time Flash was worthless with Ion builds but since their introduced hardware acceleration it works quite nicely.

Version 1.0.1.15-20100927Change the Ceton Network Interface priority to less than that of the main ethernet interface. This fixes third party programs like MSN and Skype who choose the highest priority interface to bind to.
I just want to point out that this was a very responsive update. Ceton was made of aware several days ago that some network-based “server” applications were not working properly since they were binding to the InfiniTV4’s network interface rather than the real LAN network card.
A manual work-around was discussed in tgb: Ceton and YAC — conflict? but nice to see Ceton deliver a quick work-around in their driver package. The ATI DCT had the same issue and nothing was ever done there.

After the few premiers I’ve watched I don’t think I’ll watch much TV this season: Dexter, Castle and Big Bang Theory. The occasional Modern Family when my wife is watching it.
I’ll record a bunch of the others (Event, Haven, How I Met Your Mother, Bones, Law & Order: LA, …) and maybe watch them between seasons but if not, meh.
The only “new” show I really enjoyed was “The Glades” which has its season finale next weekend after Dexter.

Thanks for reminding me of Haven, I kept meaning to watch it.
