I believe all providers require you to activate the CableCARDs.  Verizon FiOS customers only need to activate it, after that it can be used with any Host without re-pairing.  Comcast, Charter and TWC, as far as I know, require pairing between the CableCARD and Host (the tuner device).

Report back and let us know though!

I didn’t.  I ignored the question.  I simply told them I had a CableCARD I needed paired with a corresponding Host ID.  That I had the serial number, CableCARD ID and Host ID available.  The CableCARD ID was not needed though.

Here is a screenshot of my memory utilization.

Ok….that isn’t my system.  Nor could I afford the monthly electricity bill to keep that thing running.

You’ll want to check out the Win7 HTPC client: 32 bit or 64 bit? thread.

I’m in favor of 64-bit for Windows Media Center based HTPCs.  The extra memory is used by Extenders (250MB – 800MB per extender) and the WMP library will benefit from the extra RAM for large collections.

                        Do you have any extenders?

If you pass DCA you are good to go.  If you don’t pass…well you may still be ok w/ a little registry homework.

And there are two bits of software installed with the Ceton drivers:

1- Ceton InfiniTV Tuning Adapter service.  This can safely be disabled or uninstalled if you do not need tuning adatpers.

2- Ceton InfiniTV Diagnostic.  I did not include a mention of the Ceton InfiniTV Diagnostic in Part 1 as the final version was not available yet.

Neither software or related drivers require 4GB of RAM.  The requirement is part of the DCA.
